Overview
Halotherapy is another fancy word for salt therapy. Typically used with Himalayan Sea Salt, halotherapy helps to open up the bronchi in the lungs and purify the air. It is best used when heated like in the HaloIR, located at Westside Tan's Wellness center in Valencia.
Science
Halotherapy works by infusing the air we breathe with tiny particles of salt small enough to be absorbed by our lungs with no harmful effects. In fact, the tiny salt particles encourage the air pockets in our lungs, or bronchi, to open up and expand, allowing us to breathe deeper. The salty air also helps reduce inflammation treating chronic lung conditions such as Asthma, COPD, and even allergies among others.
Since the air in halotherapy is infused with healing salt and your whole body will be engrossed in salty air through a room, it also benefits your skin. The salt helps to repair skin cells reducing skin conditions such as acne, eczyma, psoriasis, and even signs of aging!
History
Halotherapy can be dated all the way back to the 12th century when visiting salt caves for therapeutic benefits was common in Eastern European cultures. Now, improvements in medical technology and science have brought the same benefits to a salon near you! With additions such as infrared and light therapy, you can experience even more benefits from dry salt therapy offering better wellness options and healing.
